AI Disclosure
This page explains in plain English what the GotAI AI phone answering service does, what it does not do, and how it works. It is written for anyone whose call may be answered by GotAI.
1. What GotAI is
GotAI is a phone answering service for Irish tradesmen and small businesses. When a business customer misses a call (because they are on a job, driving, or on another line), GotAI answers and takes the enquiry details so the business can call the customer back.
GotAI uses an AI voice agent to conduct the intake interview. The AI speaks naturally, asks questions, and records the caller's answers.
2. What the AI does
- Answers missed, busy, or unreachable calls on behalf of the business.
- Introduces itself as an AI assistant at the start of the call.
- Asks for the caller's name, phone number, location, and job details.
- Sends a summary of the enquiry to the business by SMS and/or email.
- Ends the call once the enquiry is captured.
3. What the AI does not do
- Does not make decisions. The AI captures information. It does not decide whether to accept a job, quote a price, or reject a caller. The business reviews the enquiry and decides whether to call back.
- Does not give advice. The AI does not provide legal, medical, financial, insurance, or emergency advice. It does not tell callers what to do about their situation beyond capturing their details for a callback.
- Does not handle emergencies. If a caller needs an emergency service (gardai, fire brigade, ambulance), the AI will tell them to hang up and dial 999 or 112. GotAI is not an emergency line.
- Does not replace the business's phone. The business's phone still rings first. GotAI only answers when the business misses the call. The business can switch GotAI off at any time.
- Does not sell to callers. The AI does not market products or services to callers.

4. How callers know they are speaking to AI
Every GotAI agent is required to disclose that the caller is speaking to an AI assistant at or near the start of the call. This is enforced at the system level -- agents cannot be provisioned or published without this disclosure.
The disclosure is clear and plain-spoken. Example:
"Hi, you're through to [Business Name]. I'm an AI assistant helping [Name] capture missed calls. I'll take your details so he can call you back. What's your name?"
5. What data is collected
Depending on the business's configuration, the AI may ask for:
- Caller name
- Caller phone number
- Location or area
- Type of job or enquiry
- Urgency
- Preferred callback time
The AI does not ask for sensitive information such as PPS numbers, card details, medical information, or passwords. If a caller volunteers sensitive information, it may appear in the transcript but will be minimised where practical.
Full data handling details are in the Privacy Policy.
6. Call recording and transcription
Calls may be transcribed (converted from speech to text) so the AI can process the enquiry. Transcripts and summaries are retained for up to 90 days unless the business requests deletion sooner.
Call recording is off by default. If a business enables recording retention, callers are told at the start of the call that the call may be recorded.
7. Human oversight
GotAI is a tool used by the business. The business reviews every enquiry summary and decides whether and how to respond. The AI does not act autonomously. It captures information and stops.
If the AI cannot help a caller (for example, the caller asks a question the AI is not designed to answer), the AI will explain its limits and suggest the caller contact the business directly.
8. How the business switches GotAI off
The business is always in control. Conditional call forwarding can be turned
off by dialling ##004# on the business phone. This removes all
forwarding and the business phone returns to normal. The business can also
restore its carrier voicemail by dialling
**004*.
9. Limitations
- GotAI is designed for low-risk trades (locksmiths, plumbers, electricians, roofers, glaziers, drain cleaners, mobile mechanics, pest control, emergency repair trades). It is not designed for regulated or high-risk verticals (healthcare, legal, insurance-decision, finance, recruitment, education, policing, critical infrastructure).
- GotAI does not make legal, medical, financial, insurance, eligibility, or contractual decisions.
- GotAI may not understand every accent, background noise situation, or unusual request. If the AI cannot process a call, it will say so and the enquiry may not be captured.
- GotAI relies on third-party infrastructure (telephony, AI voice, SMS, email, payment providers). Outages on those providers may affect availability.
